Our Story

ZUKA Green Coffee was co-founded by Carol, Adele and Andrew, and started operating in October 2022.

The gap left in the South African market by the exit of one of the larger Green Bean Importers created the opportunity for them to establish ZUKA Green Coffee.

While scrambling to find suppliers and funding, Paul Cooke, a seasoned Trader (and friend) based in the United Kingdom, came to the rescue with a solution close to a miracle!

A family-owned coffee roastery in Northern Ireland was prepared to finance coffees to South Africa, and the ZUKA Green Coffee Team could start shipping coffees immediately.

Now after 2 years of trading we are exploring new collaborations that we believe will keep building the momentum of the ZUKA story.

Why Zuka

ZUKA is a strong and beautiful Swahili word that means to rise up, emerge and wake up.

We chose this name as the business was born in challenging times and had to rise up and emerge to become what it is today.

ZUKA staff members have a combined experience of more than 100 years and knew that they could play a role in not just supplying coffee, but also educating and elevating the South African coffee industry.

Our mission is to share JOY over coffee!

Coffee Futures pricing is looking a bit more stable at present, and we are anticipating a large Brazil harvest coming in Q3&4, which could move the price down further in the coming months.
